ANNOUNCING ICDS3!
The 3rd International Conference of Dalcroze Studies, 2017
Dear colleagues and friends,
On behalf of the scientific committee, I am very pleased to announce that the 2017 conference will take place at Université Laval, Québec City, Canada.
Sunday 30 July – Thursday 03 August 2017*
In response to feedback, we have decided to extend the conference by a day, to allow more time for breaks and informal conversations. A longer event may also result in fewer parallel sessions, thus increasing choice for delegates, but this also depends on how many submissions we receive. We will start the event on the Sunday evening, with a reception, and finish at lunchtime on 03 August.
The ICDS3 organising committee is chaired by Dr Josée Vaillancourt, Associate Professor in Music at Université Laval. She will be assisted by retired professors Louise Mathieu and Ursula Stuber, and a group of graduate students, who together offer a wealth of experience of academic and artistic events management, as well as their own practice and research in Dalcroze Eurhythmics and related fields. Université Laval has fantastic spaces and facilities that we will enjoy immensely.
More information on the organising committee and Université Laval will be available in due course, and we will also be launching a website in the coming months.
This is a very positive and exciting development for the Dalcroze Studies conference, taking it to a different continent for the first time. We hope our community of practice and research will expand as a consequence, creating new opportunities for knowledge exchange and dialogue.
Please save the dates and tell your colleagues, associations and institutions!
With kind regards,
John Habron
Chair, Scientific Committee
* Please note that these dates are different from those announced during the 2015 conference in Vienna.
